How to make an effective to-do list?

In everyday life, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done. Simply writing down the tasks to be completed is often insufficient, as the result often ends up being just a discouraging and ultimately unhelpful accumulation of tasks.

We therefore offer you 4 tips to easily organize yourself with an effective to-do list.

1. Focus on what has value

Don’t rush headlong into the first project that comes to mind when you arrive at work. Use your to-do list to set clear priorities.

Each day, prioritize your tasks by assessing which ones are most important or valuable to your work. Beesbusy lets you set up to two tasks as “Priority” in each task list. We’ve limited this number to help you focus on what matters most. You can then move your tasks within the list according to their priority.

If a non-urgent task comes up, add it to the “Next Week” list to set it aside and maintain your focus.

2. Take a step back

Take the time to regularly review your work and plan ahead; you will only be more efficient.

At the end of the day, take 5 minutes to do a quick review: assess the work you’ve done and what still needs to be done. You can look back at your completed tasks and realize what you’ve accomplished (savor this rewarding moment!). Make a note in tomorrow’s to-do list of what you need to do first the following day. You’ll go home with peace of mind and save time the next day.

Similarly, on Monday, make a list of all the tasks to be done during the week. This will give you an overview of what lies ahead. At the end of the week, use the “Next Week” list to prepare for the week ahead.

Taking a step back will allow you to know yourself better, to know what you are capable of and to organize yourself better.

3. Don’t aim too high

It’s always tempting to fill your to-do list to the brim, thinking you’ll manage to get everything done. Instead, try to distribute your tasks, leaving time for inevitable unexpected events and taking into account your usual work rhythm.

You can use Beesbusy’s “Statistics” tool to help you better understand how you work.

If you have recurring tasks, be sure to integrate them properly. You can duplicate a task to add it to different lists.

4. Remain in control of your time

With Beesbusy, you can add a time dimension to your to-do list to make it even more efficient. By planning your tasks, you set the pace of your day and ensure you don’t miss any important deadlines.

Finally, feel free to customize your to-do list with other task lists, according to your needs.

Now it’s your turn!
