What is DevFest?

It’s a festival for developers showcasing new technologies related to software development, this year with a rock music theme. The program includes conferences, workshops, presentations, and entertainment.

DevFest took place on October 21st and 22nd, 2019 in Nantes. Three developers from the Beesbusy team attended the festival. We’ll let them share their experiences in this article!

Beesbusy at DevFest: Testimonials

PourWhy go to DevFest?

For us developers, it’s a chance to catch up on the latest tech topics in a lively and efficient way, with a wide selection of conferences and workshops to choose from!

This festival offers the opportunity to gain new ideas, different perspectives, and to challenge our own practices.

We also have the chance to network by meeting fellow developers from Nantes and visiting the various exhibitors’ booths.

Overall impression

DevFest is an event that brings together high-quality tech conferences presented by both local and international speakers.

Diversity was particularly well represented, with a significant proportion of women presenting.

This festival is well-organized and very professional. Everything runs smoothly, from the seamless flow of the conferences to the lunch buffet catered on-site.

What can we take away from the 2019 edition?

Pierre:

“I particularly appreciated the theme of designer/developer synergy in the front-end development-oriented conferences. I also enjoyed discovering topics completely new to me (it felt like landing on another planet for 45 minutes): a data query service based on knowledge graphs.”

Simon:

“Parcel might make our lives easier when it comes to configuring our environment. I also discovered Svelte, a new approach to making dynamic web pages more efficient. In fact, Svelte might be pushing React and others to rethink their performance.”

Thanks to Pierre, Simon, and Charly for sharing their experiences!
